Classic Christmas movies being screened at Thalian Hall — tickets available now

A  Wilmington tradition returns to Thalian Hall with the 10th annual screening of Frank Capra’s iconic holiday film “It’s A Wonderful Life” showing Dec. 21-23.

WILMINGTON — The main lobby of Thalian Hall is being transformed into a holiday wonderland, which will include displays of Tony Rivenbark’s famous toy collection.

The theater will be screening a series of classic and fan favorite holiday films at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday beginning Nov. 30 through Dec. 23 at 310 Chestnut St.

The series starts off with “Meet Me In St. Louis,” the iconic 1944 romantic musical comedy starring Judy Garland, on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

On Dec. 2-3, the 1988 film “Scrooged,” featuring Bill Murray in a modern take on Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

The 1954 musical comedy “White Christmas”, starring Bing Crosby will be shown Dec. 7-8.

Dec. 9-10, the 1983 family comedy “A Christmas Story,” based on the writings of humorist Jean Shepard.

“A Christmas Carol,” Dec. 14-15 will feature a special introduction by Thalian Hall’s executive/artistic director, and the perennial Scrooge of Wilmington theater, Tony Rivenbark, discussing his experience playing various versions of the role in over 15 productions.

Tickets for the above features are $7 plus fees and taxes. For parties of three or more, please call the box office for reservation at 910-632-2285, Monday through Friday from 2-7 p.m. To avoid additional online fees, call the box office between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
